How does Portun work?

Do visitors need to download an app?
No, visitors do not need to download any app. Residents share QR codes with their guests via WhatsApp, SMS, or email. Visitors simply present the QR code on their phone screen (or printed) at the gate for scanning. It's that simple.
What hardware do I need?
At minimum, you just need a smartphone for guards to scan QR codes. For automated gate opening, you can integrate Shelly IoT relay devices with your existing gate motor. No proprietary hardware is required — Portun works with standard equipment.
